Orphaned by Ebola: Ten years since the largest Ebola outbreak began in West Africa – BBC News

This year marks a decade since the largest ever outbreak of Ebola, which killed more than 11,000 people in West Africa from December 2013 to 2016.

The three main countries affected were Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, where the outbreak started. It has left around 20,000 children without one or both of their parents.

Ebola is a deadly virus with initial symptoms that can include a sudden fever, intense weakness, muscle pain, and a sore throat.

The BBC met with two teenagers in Western Guinea to find out how they have managed since the loss of their parents.
