Pakistan’s leaders are preparing to host peace talks between the US and Iran in its capital Islamabad.
Thousands of police officers and security forces have been deployed ahead of the talks, which are due to begin on Saturday 11 April.
US Vice President JD Vance said he was "looking forward to negotiations" and would work with Iran if they acted in "good faith".
The Iranian delegation is yet to arrive in Islamabad and Iran’s parliament speaker said a ceasefire in Lebanon must happen "before negotiations begin".
Meanwhile, a senior official told the BBC that Lebanon will only take part in separate talks next week, with Israel, if a ceasefire is in place beforehand.
