A number of people are in a critical condition following an explosion in central Paris, the French capital’s mayor has said.
The blast took place in Rue Saint-Jacques in the fifth arrondissement of the city.
The facade of one building has fallen onto the street as a result of the explosion and several buildings have caught fire, images on social media show.
