Petrol bombs thrown in Belfast as Northern Ireland violence continues – BBC News

Police have been attacked and petrol bombs thrown in Belfast, after more than a week of disturbances across Northern Ireland.

More than 50 police officers have been hurt so far in the disorder during the past week. On Wednesday, the violence was concentrated at an interface between loyalist and nationalist areas in west Belfast.

The violence has been linked to a number of causes including the impact of Brexit, a spate of recent arrests of loyalist paramilitary members and a lack of prosecutions following the flouting of Covid rules at the funeral of a senior republican, that was attended by Sinn Féin politicians.
