Police officer tried to punch through ice to save children from icy UK lake – BBC News


A police officer tried to punch through ice to save children after four fell into a frozen lake in the UK.

Three boys aged eight, 11 and 12 have died after falling into the lake near Solihull, England.

West Midlands Police and West Midlands Fire Service have given a press conference after the incident.

Sunday was the coldest night of the year, with temperatures below minus 15C reported in parts of the UK.

Warnings of ice, fog and snow are in place for much of the country.
