President Joe Biden gave a tearful keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago.
Speaking to a packed arena on the first night of the DNC, Biden offered a defence of his presidency, touching on his accomplishments before he abandoned his re-election bid in mid-July.
"Like many of you, I gave my heart and soul to this nation,” he said, towards the end of a nearly hour-long address punctuated by raucous shouts of "Thank you, Joe".
His speech also sang the praises of his vice-president, Kamala Harris – the woman he hopes will succeed him in the White House.
