US President Joe Biden says a full-scale war between Israel and Lebanon is not in anyone’s interest.
Biden told the UN General Assembly in New York that a diplomatic solution to prevent a full-scale conflict in the Middle East is still possible.
More than 550 people in Lebanon have been killed, including 50 children, in Israeli strikes since Monday, Lebanon’s health ministry says.
Israel says it aims to remove the threat from Hezbollah and return displaced residents to northern Israel.
Hezbollah says it is resisting Israeli "aggression" and acting in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
