President Biden has underlined his administration’s support for NATO — the military alliance originally set up during the Cold War to counter the Soviet Union and Eastern bloc.
Striking a very different tone to that of his predecessor Donald Trump, Joe Biden said that the military alliance was “critically important” to US interests. It comes at a time of rising tension between the United States, Russia and China.
He was speaking at a NATO summit Belgium, ahead of a meeting with the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
