US President Donald Trump says he wants the US to "take over" Gaza, take a "long-term ownership position", and turn it into the "Riviera of the Middle East".
At a White House news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he said: "The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too. We’ll own it".
Trump also said Palestinians could be resettled away from Gaza, "in areas where the leaders currently say no".
Jordan and Egypt reject the idea of Palestinians being resettled – while the Palestinian ambassador to the UN says "our homeland is our homeland".
