German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has met Chinese President Xi Jinping, the first G7 leader to visit Beijing since the Covid-19 pandemic.
But his trip has sparked controversy in Germany and concern elsewhere in Europe after a row within the Berlin government.
President Xi Jinping urged deeper economic co-operation with Germany and said the two countries should work together in "times of change and turmoil" during the visit.
Mr Scholz spoke of having "economic ties as equals, with reciprocity".
