Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has welcomed a vote of the United Nations General Assembly, which overwhelmingly backed a resolution condemning Russia’s invasion his country.
The UN motion called for the immediate withdrawal of Russian troops, as well as reaffirming support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and rejecting any Russian claims to the parts of the country it occupies.
The motion was backed by 141 nations with 32 abstaining and seven, including Russia, voting against it.
The vote comes as Ukrainians mark one year since the Russian invasion.
