Putin congratulates Trump on election victory and say he’s ready to talk | BBC News

Russia’s President Putin has congratulated Donald Trump on winning the US election, and praised the way Trump dealt with an assassination attempt during the campaign.

Mr Putin said he was ready for dialogue with Trump. Hew was speaking at a conference in the Black Sea resort of Sochi.

Donald Trump has called for an end to the war in Ukraine and is reported to have drawn up a plan for bringing the conflict to an end. Mr Putin said that Mr Trump’s proposals “deserved attention”.
