Vladimir Putin has vowed to take more territory in Ukraine, as he campaigns for another terms as Russia’s President.
Celebrities in Moscow gathered to support Mr Putin in a campaign he seems certain to win. Political opponents are in prison or in exile and the Kremlin has tight control of Russian media.
In Ukraine fighting continues on the frontline. Russian forces are trying to capture the strategic town of Avdiivka near Donetsk. It’s seen as a symbol of resistance by many Ukrainians.
