Legendary rock band Queen will sell their catalogue of songs to Sony music for £1bn, according to a report from Variety magazine.
It is thought to be the biggest deal of its kind, with Bruce Springsteen selling his catalogue to Sony for only half the amount Queen has.
While the company would get the rights to Queen’s recorded music, the surviving members of the band would retain revenues from live performances.
Nick Reilly, a content editor at Rolling Stone magazine, said the size of the deal shows “how beloved their songs are”.
