Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the Labour leader Keir Starmer clashed over the NHS, cost of living, education and immigration in the first head-to-head TV debate of the election.
In opening statements, Starmer said this election was about a choice between "chaos" with the Conservatives or "rebuilding with Labour". Sunak said "uncertain times call for a clear plan and bold action".
You can hear from the other political parties on Friday, when leading figures from seven parties debate on the BBC from 19:30.
