Robot couriers and e-bike makers hope for changes to allow expansion post-Brexit – BBC Newsnight


Three years on from Brexit, how can UK firms be helped to fulfil their potential outside the EU’s single market and customs union?

Newsnight’s Economics Editor Ben Chu visited two companies in Milton Keynes to help assess the economic impact that Brexit is having.

Robot grocery delivery company Starship Technologies operates in Milton Keynes, Northampton, Cambridge, and other areas where councils have regulated for it, but says the UK government has failed to use regulation to encourage cutting-edge tech firms like theirs to expand in the wake of Brexit.

British E-bike brand Volt Bikes has been trying to sell into Europe, but says it has “been much, much more complex than it was pre-Brexit”.
