Russian dissident says he thought he would die in ‘Vladimir Putin’s prison’ | BBC News

A Russian opposition activist who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for treason said he thought he would die there.

Vladimir Kara-Murza, who is also a British citizen, has been vocal in his condemnation of Vladimir Putin and the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

On Thursday, he was part of the biggest ever Russian-American prisoner exchange since the Cold War.

Kara-Murza was taken to Germany where he saw his family for the first time in two-and-a-half years.
