Russian human rights activist Oleg Orlov has been jailed for "repeatedly discrediting" the Russian armed forces by protesting against the war in Ukraine.
The co-chair of Nobel Peace Prize-winning organisation "Memorial", was sentenced to two and a half years in prison, before being led out of the courtroom in handcuffs.
Orlov was charged after taking part in anti-war demonstrations and writing an article entitled "They wanted fascism. They got it”, in 2022.
Initially he was fined, but a retrial was ordered after prosecutors complained that the sentence was too soft.
