Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has visited South Africa for the first time since the invasion of Ukraine.
Mr Lavrov held talks with his South African counterpart, Naledi Pandor, in Pretoria.
The countries said they want to work together more closely, and defended plans to hold joint military exercises with China next month.
South Africa has refused to condemn Russia’s war with Ukraine, saying it wants to remain neutral.
