President Putin of Russia met with President Xi of China just before the opening ceremony of the winter Olympics started in Beijing.
Putin is one of the few world leaders to attend the games with many leaders and officials boycotting in protest against China’s human rights record.
After the meeting the two countries issued a statement opposing the expansion of Nato.
