Russia’s Vladimir Putin meets India’s Narendra Modi in China for world leaders summit | BBC News

Leaders of Russia and India have met on the sidelines of a key economic summit in China.

Vladimir Putin and Narendra Modi are among around 20 world leaders who are attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.

President Putin also met Xi Jinping and thanked the Chinese and Indian leaders for their support and their efforts to "facilitate the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis".

China’s President Xi called on them to oppose the "cold war mentality", following the increasing of tariffs by the US.

Russian President Vladimir Putin says he reached "understandings" with US President Donald Trump over the end of the Ukraine war, at their meeting in Alaska last month.
