Sara Sharif’s father and stepmother have been sentenced to life in prison for the 10-year-old’s murder.
Urfan Sharif must spend a minimum of 40 years in prison, and Beinash Batool must serve 33 years.
Sara’s uncle, Faisal Malik, was jailed for 16 years for causing or allowing the death of a child – he was found not guilty of murder.
The judge said during sentencing that Sara suffered "a campaign of torture", adding that she was "a very courageous little girl with an unquenchable spirit" and "full of personality".
Sara died on 8 August 2023 at her home in Woking, Surrey and her body was found with dozens of injuries two days later.
