Thousands of people are leaving Sudan’s south-eastern state following the capture of the provincial capital Singa by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.
Concerns are growing over escalating violence, and human rights groups are warning of a worsening humanitarian crisis, citing mass displacements caused by recent clashes.
As a result, as many as 6.5 million Sudanese children have been forced out of school.
Sudan descended into chaos in April 2023 when former allies – the army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) – began fighting each other for control of the country.
