Raids by Israeli forces have become more frequent and many Palestinians have been killed.

Protests by Palestinians have gathered strength and support for Hamas is growing.

While Israel and its allies condemn Hamas as a terrorist organisation, increasing numbers of Palestinians in the West Bank support its armed resistance to Israeli occupation.
