Taliban bars female students from returning to universities in Afghanistan – BBC News

Universities in Afghanistan have reopened after a winter break but female students have been unable to return after being barred by the Taliban.

It was announced before the break that female students would no longer be able to take classes at university, which prompted protests.

In December, the Taliban arrested five women taking part in a protest against the decision to bar them from attending university, in the Afghan capital of Kabul.
