Taliban in talks to restart Afghanistan aid – BBC News


In December, the Taliban banned women from working for aid agencies, and claimed they had broken dress codes by not wearing hijabs.

The move prompted many organisations to stop all operations in Afghanistan.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has been meeting Taliban officials, in an effort to restart aid operations and allow female staff to work.

24 million people in Afghanistan are in need of vital humanitarian relief – with more than half the population now reliant on humanitarian aid to survive

Three quarters of people’s incomes is now spent on food.
