The Taliban has ordered female presenters and other women on screen to cover their faces while on air on Afghan TV.
The decree came in on Sunday, with broadcasters saying they had to comply.
A male anchor on the main evening bulletin wore a face covering during a live broadcast in solidarity with his female colleagues.
The ruling has come two weeks after the Taliban ordered all women to wear a face veil public or risk punishment.
The BBC’s Yalda Hakim spoke with TOLO News presenter Farida Sial and Pakistani journalist Asma Shirazi.
