Texas abortion law: ‘I waited for my daughter to die so I wouldn’t die’ – BBC News

Five women who say they were denied abortions in Texas, US, despite facing life-threatening health risks, have sued the state over its abortion ban.

Texas bars abortions, except for medical emergencies, with doctors facing up to 99 years in jail for violations.

The lawsuit claims that many doctors are refusing the procedure even in extreme cases, for fear of prosecution.

One of the five women, Amanda Zurawski speaks to the BBC’s Christian Fraser about the emotional pain she faced when seeking an abortion following life-threatening complications with her pregnancy.
