Around two million British citizens living overseas will be able to vote in next month’s UK general election after a rule change.
Previously, people who left the UK more than 15 years ago lost their right to vote.
But now, British citizens living abroad can register in the last constituency they were signed up in before leaving the UK.
It is estimated that the number of people able to register after the rule change will increase from around 1m, to 3.2m-3.3m.
