The Indy Autonomous Challenge is a car race with a difference.

All the racing cars are driven using Artificial Intelligence (AI) coded by research teams from universities across the world.

Some of the autonomous vehicles have reached speeds of up to 180mph (289km/h) – so how does the technology work?
