Thousands demand peace during protest in Israel’s capital Tel Aviv | BBC News

Thousands of people gathered in Israel’s capital Tel Aviv and cities across Israel to call out the government’s plans to take control of Gaza City, for them to organise a ceasefire as well as calling for peace.

It comes as the Israeli government demands the release of all 50 hostages held in Gaza, casting doubt on whether it will accept a new proposal for a 60-day ceasefire that Hamas agreed to last week.

Palestinian sources said the proposal would see 10 living and 18 dead hostages handed over while the sides negotiated a permanent ceasefire and the return of the other hostages.
