Thousands flee Israeli raid on Jenin – BBC News

Israel has carried out a major aerial and ground offensive in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin. It’s the biggest military operation in the Palestinian territory in years.

Thousands of people have fled their homes in Jenin refugee camp which has been targeted by Israeli forces.

Israel described the attack as an an “extensive counter-terrorism effort”. The Palestinians have called it a “war crime” and the United Nations has voiced serious concern.

The operation included drone strikes on buildings and hundreds of troops supported by armoured vehicles and snipers
