Thousands of asylum seekers cross US-Mexico border – BBC News

Asylum seekers who have been waiting at the border for over a year have started entering the US this week.

After taking office in January, President Biden announced it would suspend a Trump-era policy that forced asylum seekers to wait in Mexico for their US immigration hearings.

Thousands have now crossed over into the US legally, while others have entered illegally and been apprehended.
