TikTok banned on New Zealand government phones – BBC News

New Zealand has become the latest country to ban TikTok from government-issued devices over security concerns.

The bans, which are also in place in the US and the UK, come amid fears that the Chinese-owned app passes information about users to the Chinese government.

TikTok has strongly denied allegations that it hands users’ data to the Chinese government, while China has said the decision is “politically motivated” and “not based on facts”.
