Torture stories emerge from Russian-occupied region of Ukraine, Kherson – BBC News

There have been multiple accounts of torture and kidnap in the Ukrainian region of Kherson which has been occupied by Russian troops since the invasion began, the BBC has heard.

The UN and Human Rights Watch have said they’re investigating accusations of human rights abuses and have gathered similar testimonies.
As more testimonies are gathered from the region, many paint a picture of fear, intimidation, violence, and repression.

The Russian Ministry of Defence did not respond to a request for comment.
