President Donald Trump has said the US will "obliterate" Iranian power plants if the Strait of Hormuz is not open before a 48-hour deadline.

Iran’s blockade and attacks on ships in the Strait has seen oil prices soar over recent weeks.

Iran warns it will retaliate against all US-linked energy infrastructure in the Middle East if its power plants are attacked.

Meanwhile, Israel has said it launched a wave of strikes on the Iranian capital overnight.

An Iranian missile strike hit two southern Israeli towns close to a nuclear facility on Saturday.
