Turkey-Syria earthquake death toll could ‘double’, UN says – BBC News


Over 33,000 people are known to have been killed after devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria one week ago.

The UN says it expects the number of dead to double as rescue efforts continue.

The war in Syria has made the relief operation highly complicated – and while some aid is now arriving there, the head of the UN’s relief mission says many Syrians have a right to feel abandoned.
