Ukraine braced for new Russia offensive as power plants targeted in strikes | BBC News


Ukraine’s President Zelensky has warned the country is running out of air defences, as it faces another wave of Russian strikes.

On Thursday, a major power plant near Kiyv was completely destroyed, after being targeted by multiple missiles.

Staff on shift at the Trypillya plant were able to run for cover and escape, but the plant – which was the largest electricity provider for three regions, including Kyiv – has been put out of use.

More than 80 missiles and drones targeted sites across Ukraine in the early hours of Thursday. Many targeted energy infrastructure and almost a third made it through Ukraine’s air defences.
