Ukrainian effort to retake Kherson begins – BBC Newsnight

Ukrainian forces have begun an operation to retake Kherson; one of the first cities to fall to the Russians after their invasion in February.

A Human Rights Watch report recently found that the inhabitants of Kherson had been subjected to abuses under the occupying Russian forces.

Now, with the help of US rocket systems, Ukraine hopes to regain control of the city; an outcome which would represent a major strategic and psychological victory if achieved.
