The heads of six UN aid agencies have called for an urgent renewal of a ceasefire in Gaza, saying the ongoing violence shows “a complete disregard for human life”.
It comes as the Palestinian Red Crescent has renewed calls for an independent international investigation into Israel’s killing of 15 emergency workers in southern Gaza.
A new statement from the Israeli army said that a preliminary inquiry indicated that troops "opened fire due to a perceived threat" and that "six of the individuals killed in the incident were identified as Hamas terrorists", without giving evidence.
