UN chief calls for Ramadan ceasefire in Sudan | BBC News


The UN Secretary General has called for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan.

After nearly a year of fighting between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, Antonio Guterres urged the warring parties to halt hostilities during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The war risks triggering the world’s largest hunger crisis, with reports of children dying from malnutrition – and it is already the biggest displacement crisis on earth.
