President Biden is asking world leaders to pledge to vaccinate 70% of the world’s population against Covid by September 2022.
During a virtual meeting he said the US would buy an additional 500m doses of the Pfizer vaccine to donate to less wealthy countries.
But the latest research shows richer nations have a surplus of vaccines, some of which will still be out of date.
