Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, is due to arrive in South Korea after authorities tried and failed to arrest the impeached president Yoon Suk Yeol.
After a dramatic six hour stand-off, police called off the attempt to arrest the suspended president – as Mr Yoon’s security team formed a human wall and used vehicles to block the arresting team’s path.
It has been an unprecedented month for South Korean politics. Yoon’s shocking yet short-lived martial law order was followed by an impeachment vote against him.
Protests in the country’s capital Seoul continue, with hundreds taking to the streets in support and also against the impeached president. Subscribe here: http://bit.ly/1rbfUog
