Joe Biden has said he is “not surprised and outraged” at news of Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny’s death.
The US President said Navalny bravely stood up to violence by the Putin regime, for which he was jailed, and added that "Putin is responsible for Navalny’s death”.
The Russian prison service announced the death of Navalny, who has long been an outspoken critic of President Putin, and has been incarcerated since 2021 on charges widely viewed as politically motivated.
