What could a peace deal mean for Ukrainian soldiers and civilians on the front line? | BBC News


This week, there’s cautious optimism about a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.

Diplomatic efforts from the US, Europe, Turkey and others have pushed direct talks between the two countries for the first time in three years.

However, on the front line, fighting continues, with Moscow now controlling approximately 20% of Ukraine’s land – including the southern Crimea peninsula it illegally annexed in 2014.
