US Central Command has confirmed that thousands more American troops have been sent to the Middle East, as the US-Israel war with Iran continues. There are varying reports on how these forces could be used, including ground operations on Iranian soil.
President Donld Trump has said US forces could "very easily" take Kharg Island — a major Iranian oil terminal, that is considered the country’s economic lifeline.
There are also reports that the president is weighing a plan to seize a large amount of Iran’s uranium.
Each of these options would come with its own perils. Will President Trump risk putting boots on the ground? What could he be trying gain from doing so?
