Donald Trump’s re-election as US President this month is seen by many Israeli settlers as an opportunity to press ahead with the annexation of the occupied West Bank.
Israeli settlements have doubled in the last five years and are now home to more than 500,000 settlers.
The settlements are viewed as illegal by the UN’s top court and most other countries, but Israel disputes that.
Israel’s far-right Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, publicly called for annexing the Israeli settlements in the West Bank following Trump’s election victory in November, but formal annexation has so far remained a dream for settlers.
