Children charities have expressed concern about young people spending the winter in cold homes, as studies show a direct link between health and the temperature of homes, with excess winter deaths being three times higher in colder home.
The risk of health impact is not helped by the fact that most British homes don’t hold the heat, with some of the least energy efficient houses located in the North, South West of England and Wales.
