Where should asylum seekers be housed in the UK? | BBC News

Using disused army barracks is one of the alternatives to asylum hotels being considered by the UK government.

Labour has pledged to close all asylum hotels by the end of the decade, with the hotel scheme, introduced by the Conservative government and Boris Johnson in 2019, expected to total £15bn by 2029.

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy, Conservative Assistant Whip and MP Harriet Cross, GB News presenter Matt Goodwin and economist Faiza Shaheen joined Question Time’s Fiona Bruce in Bradford to discuss Labour’s plans to use army barracks and abandoned buildings as future housing alternatives for asylum seekers.
