Liz Truss has been chosen as the next Conservative leader and will become the UK’s next prime minister following the resignation of Boris Johnson.
She will be the country’s third woman prime minister and was selected in a vote among Tory Party members, who make up less than 1% of the nation’s population.
In her first speech after beating Tory leadership rival Rishi Sunak, Ms Truss promised to take action to deal with surging energy costs.
